The State border between POLAND and Ukraine

Length of state border between the Polish and Ukraine is 535 km. It passes along the provinces of Lublin (296 km) and Podkarpackie (239 km), which share borders with Volyn circuits, Lviv and zakarpackim.

The present course of the border between the Republic of Polish and Ukraine is the result of a series of international treaties and agreements, concluded in the past between the Republic of Poland and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics after the end of World War II.

In connection with the expansion of the European Union and the Polish accession, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania to the European Community structures, before the State Frontier Service of Ukraine formed a new task. First and foremost, the protection of the external borders of the EU, on the contact area of the Union territory of Ukraine. The length of the border of the EU and Ukraine is 1390 km.        International cooperation with the countries members of the EU require new solutions in the field of border protection. In connection with the immediate accession of Polish, Slovakia and Hungary 2007 year of the Schengen Agreement, border cooperation of the EU and Ukraine, went to a new level. As of today Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine operatively cooperates with the Frontex (Head Office in Warsaw), which is an independent agency within the European Union, for the control and coordination at EU borders. Its tasks include, inter alia,:

  • management of operational cooperation at the external borders of EU Member States;
  • assistance and training of border services of EU Member States and the countries 'neighbors' of the EU;
  • risk analysis of terrorism and countermeasures;
  • EU Member States to assist in the process of deportation.

State of the 2009 year on the Polish-Ukrainian border, operates 12 crossings.

CROSSING BORDER STATE

Citizens of EU and EFTA (European Free Trade Association) -are not subject to the obligation to hold a visa when you travel to and residence on the territory of Ukraine. In accordance with the Act on migration and the registration of nationals of other Member States on the territory of Ukraine, Foreigners are allowed to 90 days without check-in and registration. For detailed information, customs-legal you can get on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland (http://www.msz.gov.pl/).
While security and immigration, Foreigners fill MIGRATION CARD, you need to pass healthcare with a foreign passport, Ukraine Border. In the "tab" should include the following information:

  1. Personal data (first name, last name, date of birth);
  2. Passport data (passport, number, series and the issuing authority);
  3. Data on the destination, eq. tourism, visiting family or business;
  4. Data on the location (city, region, hotel or a private individual);
  5. Data on return date (Departure).

Part of the information sheet "cards" will be conquered seal the border Service and transferred to the holder of the Passport. Keep it together with the other documents until you return (will again be tested when crossing the border).

Traveling by train or coach, will be insured through the purchase of a ticket at the box office of the railway or bus (You must buy a ticket in order to avoid problems with compensation in the event of an accident!). Foreigners traveling by car, have the obligation to insure the vehicle after crossing State border.

While crossing the border, foreigners are subject to customs rules, are determined by the State Customs Service of Ukraine (information available in newsletters MFA).
